How did right-wing extremists take over social media to impact an election, popular culture and even the tone of conversation online? What can we learn from their strategies and what can we do to address this crisis? How have right-wing figures  been successful in working the refs and manipulating tech giants into catering to the right? Cristina Lopez G leads Media Matters' research into the forces that feed bigotry and the platforms it proliferates in as Deputy Director for Extremism.

She'll be sharing her team’s research into far-right extremism online and into the ways that far-right rhetoric jumps from digital platform to digital platform, how tech algorithms aid radicalization, the anti-conservative tech bias hoax, and what we can do about it.
